-If you plan on using public transportation, get an Oyster card. They are much cheaper and easier to use than conventional travel cards, and never expire. They can be bought in many stores in London, or online. These days one can use contactless credit cards instead of Oyster.(Check here to see if your foreign contactless card will work.)

-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

-DD's Kosher Sandwiches can be bought in most major airports and stations and at some supermarkets around London.  Check here for a list of locations.

-Kosher in the West End/City -
Selfridges food hall has a variety of kosher groceries and prepackaged ready food by 1701.
Hermolis  also have a deli counter there.  The range includes schnitzels, spring rolls, kebabs, breaded lamb chops, chicken wings, fish products and salads. Traditional Shabbat dishes will be on sale on Thursdays and Fridays. Supervision is provided by the Kashrut Division London Beth Din
In the City Munch'n'Crunch have a stand in Hatton Garden with kosher meals, sandwiches, sushi and coffee. It is located at 32 Hatton Garden, on the lower-ground floor of Jewellery Emporium. There is also Mincha there at 1:30.

-Kosher food at non-kosher hotels, restaurants etc. can be ordered from the following kosher caterers in London. They provide double-wrapped meals to any location and could also match the menu of your location.

Zmanim - MyZmanim London

Minyanim - There are many shuls all over London, however there are a couple of places that have more constant Minyanim throughout the day.

R' Chuna's (Beth Shmuel Synagogue)

Here is a list of addresses and zmanim for the above, and other places.

-Minyan in the West End could be found at the Marble Arch Synagogue. Shacharis during the week is followed by breakfast, and a kiddush on Shabbos.

-Most food products in general stores do not have a hechsher on them. This does not necessarily mean they are not kosher. For example, Coca-Cola does not have a hechsher, but it is kosher. Here is an online kosher product search that could help. Link to Android app.

London eye is nice

It's a bit pricey.

Check out Isola Bella at Westfield Shopping Center. Great food, service and not too overpriced for London (milchig) you also get to check out the huge westfield mall.

If he is on a limited schedule, I think Westfield is a waste. Rather stick to the main attractions.

Isola Bella in GG is a good choice if you want to sit down to a full breakfast. For dinner - La Fiesta or White House, and Kaifeng (chinese) or 86 in Hendon.

Exactly, we're trying to save time as much as possible. Is there a take-out breakfast place in GG? Also is there anything kosher for lunch near Buckingham Palace?

We're going directly from the Tower of London to LHR. We can wither go directly via the Tube or we can take a short ferry across the Thames. Is it a nice ferry? Does anyone know the approximate cost? (It seems to be part of the public transport system but I can't find prices anywhere).

London eye is nice
I've heard very mixed reviews, it doesnt seem to be a must and as Hudi said it's a bit pricey as well.

Duty Free thats about it, 5.5 hours is a killer IMO.
If you can get into a lounge that should make killing time a bit easier.

Which airport?

Unless it is LCY (which I highly doubt), it doesn't matter which one, he won't have enough time to leave.

I have gone to the city in a smaller window.
If you just have a carry on, and you get off & out of airport quickly - you can spend 2 hours in the city if you need to - just bear in mind that in LHR & LGW you have to be past security 35 minutes or more before the flight or you will be automatically removed.

(I usually travel to London 10-12 times a year - i have perfected my routine :-) )

IIRC the underground will not get you to LCY.

Sometimes I do the express, early mornings the Tube is only 30 mins to some parts of the city. /

Really depends on where you want to go.

Restaurant 1701 was amazing. Better food than almost any restaurant, anywhere. Small portions, and complex dishes. They are not open for dinner on Mondays, so we went for lunch. check came out to $175.

Downtown there's Reuben's Deli, which also has a sit down restaurant downstairs. Food was better than I expected, so no problems there. For more upscale there's 1701 by the Bevis Marks Synagogue.
