-Here is a handy planner for the public transport system.

Blech. I hope that doesn't happen. I'm there for a few days, but really only 1 morning works out well for this. Hope it happens :)

It's supposed to happen every day in June unless it's very wet weather which is unlikely. FYI they have a changing of the guard ceremony at Windsor too, if you end up going there.

And in Canada as well.
From reports, it's just not the same.

Make sure you get there early enough. I think it's called for 11:00, if you come after 10:30 you won't see anything. Try closer to 10:00.

They have changing of the queens guards somewhere in Ontario (I think they're guarding one of her parks there) but Windsor and Ontario both aren't the same as the display at Buckingham palace.

There's also one at Whitehall. Are you serious about being there at 10AM for an 11:30 "show"?

Sorry, I thought it started at 11.
If it starts at 11:30 then you should be there before 11. The earlier you come the better view you'll have.

This is from my experience and what I've heard from others.

Feel free to CMIIW.

Hehe now you know why I didn't make it to the ceremony the entire week I was in London ;)
But I've been on previous trips, and yes you really should come early if you want a decent view.

Sorry, I read your post wrong in terms of how much time to allot. But yes, I saw that it starts at 11:30.

Don't know if this interests anyone but there is a changing of the guard tour that my wife and I did in London and it was really a fun way to see it. It's led by a very energetic and interesting fellow named Matt and he basically takes on a walking tour starting from where the guards get ready then you march alongside them to where they switch, etc.... You get to see alot more than standing in front squished with loads of people. And it was pretty cheap (for London standards at least). Here is a link to his website:

I'm seriously considering spending a full day and night in London (as part of a larger trip this summer).  From reading this thread I've decided to visit the Tower of London.  Is there any particular hotel which would be ideal for traveling from LHR, going to the Tower of London and availability of kosher food?

Bump.
