AA lost baggage Compensation. Take cash or Airline voucher?
« on: March 09, 2012, 02:43:03 PM »
Hi all,

Just to hear from you the ins and odds of this:
My Father has his luggage lost by AA. The offered either a cash settlement or an AA voucher good toward AA flights within one year.
The voucher will exceed the cash by 20%.

He's not sure if he'll fly during the nest year. Does it pay to take the voucher? is it transferable? stackable?

If it was me ---Take the cash --Since ur dad may not travel in time to use , you may need to sell "if transferable "--- keep in mind AA GC  sell on dans at 15-20% off plus Costco sells  them at  a discount --80% OF THE  120 = 96

If they are transferable, I might go on that and sell for 20% at the end of the year.
My question is if they are? and if they are treated the same way like gift cards?

Why don't you ask the rep that offered you that deal if it's transferable?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I do not know if can transfer , but if u think will need to sell and can get 80% of the face value --he will wind up with less net  money

Wasn't me and wasn't a rep.
Their lost baggage process system gives you the option to download a form after 5 days from when reported.
On that form they give you one of the 2 options, you have to tick on one of them.

Just out of curiosity how much are they offering you? (If you don't mind sharing)
