Pardes is the closest I have ever come to the food at Tierra Sur.
Funny you say that because both chefs used to work at the same restaurant in NJ (Mosaica).

It might belong here but I think most accurately here (also started by you... ;)  ).
Anyhow, wow about the "moving experience", never heard anyone express themselves like that about eating at a restaurant :)

I think they might have had quite an upgrade since I was there (prob. about 6 months ago).. My experience, honestly, was nothing out of this world. I ordered steak tartare which I had much better elsewhere. A hanger steak which left me dissatisfied, only then did I order a burger and fries which was one of the best burgers I ever had and the famous fries with truffle-mayo are pretty awesome too..

They most definitely change their menu often because had I seen ox heart i would have most definitely ordered it! What does it go for BTW? I guess I should pay it another visit just for that..

P.S. Also it took them an eternity to wait the tables...
את חטאי אני מזכיר that was takke a geshmakke burger, so +1 on your description of the burger and on the disappointment of the rest of the menu.

Read somewhere that Mermelstein's may be NYC's longest running kosher restaurant.
As for how they stay open...one of the great mysteries of life.

      Considering that they're open 7 days a week I wouldn't count that.

As far as I understand, their main business currently is events catering and the restaurant part is just because they have the space for it and very little overhead goes into it since the catering kitchen operates on the same premises.

The MP is great, can't recommend specifics other than their sushi (which IMHO is currently the best in CH).

So I hear there are some good eats at the market place. Any reports?
I couldn't reply to that post beacuase I was on a flight to Israel for Purim when you posted :))
The Marketplace is awesome. Their General Tso chicken and Kugel with meat in it (Yapsach?) are both delicious. The service is also fantastic. Can't comment on their sushi.

I'm told the place to get a hat is in Crown Heights, can anyone enlighten me as to where?

$250 for a nice trionfo or $170 for a decent borsalino
