I actually asked about it, and was told that it was in order to avoid fines due to various draconian mandates. Eliminated almost all customer-available indoor space.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Kosher Town is A Benabou, THE BEnabou's brother

In other words which groceries in CH or pizza shops are not under benabou ownership ?
Does he own meat restaurants too?

Koshertown is Shimmy Benabou’s business and AFAIK has nothing to do with the supermarkets his brother Itzik owns, and hasn’t for many years.

I don’t believe Itzik is involved with any meat restaurants. Nobody likes a monopoly but BH he’s successful and he’s a big baal tzedakah.

Groceries: There’s Klein’s, Kahan’s, Gourmet Butcher, Albany Bake shop, and probably others I’m not considering.

Places that sell pizza (they aren’t all classic pizza shops) are Basil, Wholesome Bagel, Mozzarella, Benny’s Brick Oven (apparently now known as Crown), and Sauce n’ Cheese.

    CH Butcher

That's just one of his assets. Though arguably the one that gives him most power.

    He has other good assets?

    What does that mean?

ETA: do you consider 749 a good asset? Do you consider the power he wields (related to 749 etc) an asset?

Who did you think owned it?

I beg to differ. Though I have heard from others that liked it. I was there once or twice and didn't like it (service being part of the experience).

Had no idea who owned it.

Interesting you say that, because I’ve been many times in different settings and always appreciated the consistently good experience (food quality, portion sizes/value, service, and ambiance - in that order)

    I beg to differ.

It is a notch above Pizza-shop quality, served in a restaurant at restaurant prices. Does not compare IMO with food quality at Basil.
