Hey! We have very good pizza in London...
Really? cuz they seemed to imply that London pizza shops in general weren't too tasty.

They definitely have that stigma, although there are a couple of new places that are great...

      New restaurant opens in CH!
Nice, now who's going to TOFTT and check it out?

      ALOL, devilishly! :D

So AsherO and I went to check out the new Mendy's steakhouse yesterday an hour before the 9 days set in.

I had their Romanian steak (well done), and it was great!
The manager (?) told us that it was their most popular item right now as the other steaks are  similar to what you can get in most steakhouses, but this was something different.
So far so good with Mendy's steakhouse!

My BBQ skirt steak wasn't bad either. $55 tab (after tax, before tip) covered a hearty steak dinner for two, no extra appetizers or dessert.

Just gave Prime Sandwich a 2nd chance (or maybe it was out of no choice due to the late hour ;D )... I had been there soon after they opened and the food was plastic.
I must say I came out very satisfied after spending $10.83 on a Russian shnitzel with veggies and Chimichurri and garlic mayo dressings in a baguette. If you try it make sure to ditch the tomatoes!

I came across this video on FT and thought it was interesting.

I totally agree with this guy in that we have many amenities here in CH. I think people underrate or just don't take advantage of them. I've had many enjoyable bike rides around Prospect Park during the summer. It's such a blessing to have a big park right near you, an excellent museum, excellent train transportation to the city, and just  being able to take a lovely stroll down Eastern Parkway.

this video is not the "Crown Heights" that was discussed till now in this thread. (that would be Lincoln pl North border, E. New York/Maple
South border, Utica East, Nostrand West)
that being said Eastern pkwy is great to take a stroll

Sure, his focus is the area where the hipsters are moving into as those are the clients he's going after, but the advantages he's discussing about CH apply to the Chabad area just the same. I'd call it Greater Crown Heights.

only thing that applies to CH is sights and attractions.
Rent in Jewish CH is high
      restaurants nothing to write about...
and he conveniently forgets to mention crime rates (71ST Precinct is a embarrassment to put it mildly)

      restaurants nothing to write about...
and he conveniently forgets to mention crime rates (71ST Precinct is a embarrassment to put it mildly)

I dont think the rent is that much more expensive then most other places in the 5 boroughs. Especially with the amenities that CH offers (or even basics if you work in the city - 20 - 35 min. train ride to midtown).

Pardes might not belong here, but I feel like it's so close to CH it should plus its owned and run by a lubab who happens to be the same guy that created Basil's menu. Any-who I went there and had a phenomenal experience. I had foods and flavors I've never had anywhere else it was an almost moving experience. The highlight was having ox heart which was the most flavorful piece of meat I have ever had in my life. The thing is I believe there menu changes semi-often. Anyone know how often? Cuz I just looked online and it was all different from when I went a month ago. Pardes is the closest I have ever come to the food at Tierra Sur, they even give them a decent run for their money.

Also worth noting is the amazing bread given to each table and because we had to wait for a table they gave us free homemade pickles. In addition their beer selection is 2nd to none.

It might belong here but I think most accurately here (also started by you... ;)  ).
Anyhow, wow about the "moving experience", never heard anyone express themselves like that about eating at a restaurant :)

I think they might have had quite an upgrade since I was there (prob. about 6 months ago).. My experience, honestly, was nothing out of this world. I ordered steak tartare which I had much better elsewhere. A hanger steak which left me dissatisfied, only then did I order a burger and fries which was one of the best burgers I ever had and the famous fries with truffle-mayo are pretty awesome too..

They most definitely change their menu often because had I seen ox heart i would have most definitely ordered it! What does it go for BTW? I guess I should pay it another visit just for that..

P.S. Also it took them an eternity to wait the tables...

That's the thing about restaurants who's menu constantly changes, you can have totally different experiences every time you go. Ox heart isn't on their new menu AFAIK :'( it was an apatizer so small portion like $18... I say moving cuz my taste buds had sensations they never experienced before, it was cool :)
