How many of the 30? What about the rest?
The rest are local pizza shops and fast food that every community has a bunch of them

In fact it wasn't, the last few years of the rebbe it was alot of tourists , before head they were a enclosed enclave and people didn't accept them ,ask for history
My family has been making pilgrimages to CH since the 60s.

I would say pretty much the places Dan mentioned. Everything else is pretty much fast food/deli/takeout etc
The rest are local pizza shops and fast food that every community has a bunch of them
Those are the ones about which I was asking, although I guess if you include the takeout in places like Gourmet Glatt then Lakewood has more of those than I am including. On the other hand people in CH probably go to some of those types of stores in other sections of Brooklyn too.

You're reading this line of reasoning way too seriously.
I initially read "Mike's" as mikve. It makes the comment much better.

I am a often visitor to fres in crown heights and the long lines by brooklyn bakehouse every day for lunch from local ch people you wouldn't find anywhere else that locals should spend so much for lunch.  In fact they are  chasidim and they spend more for fres then lakewood guys or modern guys in flatbush
I personally have only been to BAB a couple of times so I can't speak from experience, but I just asked someone who's been many many times and they said it's probably 50/50 CHers. I also know that they're trying to bring in more of the outside CH crowd.

About right @Yehuda57 but we can fit a few more than that.

How in the world does that amount come close to being able to support that number of eateries?
My two cents about the eatiries (not the expensive restaurants - which are obviously full of people from out of ch) there are 'many' singles both boys and girls from out of town that rent apartments and are too lazy to make dinner and have a rotation of places they order from (we are talking about thousands of singles doing this)

Of course they have locals, but if any of them were relying on the locals they'd be out of business in a heartbeat.

Happen to be i eat out alot so i have somewhat an idea in this restaurant business .

Each and every restaurant no matter how good or unique it is that doesn't have a strong local clientele can't succeed,  so thats my point that the ch eateries has a strong local clientele + tons of visitors + singles = that they all doing very well , Much better then restaurants elswhere ,talking profit wise  because they are much much more busy  consistently always,

Basil as long i know that place when i ever i drove by it was packed and lines out the door ,i ate there once only because i don't like art and i don't understand to it

And so is izzyss both b&b and bab always full busy when ever i visit or pass by ,all of them are even busy mid day , but definitely that the locals patronize them more then in different neighborhoods ,thats what my observation is .

we're going around in circles here. I said my point(s) multiple times, you said yours multiple times, yours is simply not true.

...and for that reason I'm out.

(remember, the original question was how can such a small community support so many restaurants? and the answer is it can't and doesn't, it's outsiders supporting the high-end restaurants.)

I initially read "Mike's" as mikve. It makes the comment much better.
I know a few people that bring a bunch of kids with them to the Mikvah every Friday. Probably better experience and easier than going out to eat with the kids.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
