Mind is spinning thinking about all this....
Here is the sitch:
I live outside the USA year round and visit come the holidays. I do maintain a legal residence in CA by means of filing a tax return. Have always deflected jury summons as a student abroad. Somehow this time they sent me a jury summons that has me appearing before a judge (who supposedly listens and decides on excuses tendered?).
Problem is that while I am in town the morning of the court appearance, I was planning on leaving California the next morning for business for a couple days and already have a ticket
Hence, a risk that I may be assigned to a case and as they say, there goes Bein Hazmanim
It seems from the LA Superior Court website that if I can provide the court with a foreign address - which I have and can prove with my property tax bill - they will excuse me.
Will this work easily (or at all)? Anyone have experience/a solution?
TIA!
