Free chase checking
« on: February 26, 2012, 11:18:02 PM »
It can be a pain to avoid that $12 monthly fee for the "privilege" of having a chase checking account.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but it seems amazon payments qualify's as direct deposit, which means that by transferring my monthly amazon payments "1000 point gain" into my chase account that gets rid of the annual fee!

Just wanted to share....
Part of the vast right wing conspiracy.

Has tried this and been successful in getting chase to accept amazon payments as direct deposit for the signup bonus?

but only if your 17-24 (at least officially, perhaps they don't enforce it, although I suspect it's automatic)

I'm over 24, so no student account for me :-(

And I'm not as concerned about the monthly fee (I'll keep my balance over $1500 - it's a good incentive not to spend ;-))

I just want to get the signup bonus for checking which I think can only happen if you have direct deposit

Depends on the promo code you use. Some require it and some dont. Try and find one that doesn't require it.

I used to do it with my cities account as well to avoid monthly fees and it worked somehow this month I got slapped with a monthly fee although my AP deposit  was way over 1000
Any one had a similar experience?  Maybe they stopped recognizing AP as a direct deposit. ?
In a side note I found Citibank processing AP alot faster then chase iirc I had a credit balance of the amount I AP'd the next day

I am over 24 and still have the account.  I happen to be a student but the age requirement is definitely not absolute.
If you don't care why would you comment?

But maybe you have to open the account before your 24

I opened my college checking before I was 24 and they forced me out of it once I turned 25 (and I'm actually in college.) Def not "supposed" to have it once you're over 24, I guess a friendly banker could get around it.

That's nice. So why don't you pm yitzif?

He shouldn't have a problem using it. I've given a code to a ddf'er awhile and he had no prob using it.

Maybe we should start a thread for this. . .
