Adding Authorized User
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:02:23 PM »
When I fill out an application and it asks for an additional cardholders information.....

1 - Is that considered adding an Authorized User (to get the extra points with Co and United), or do I need to add the AU after I receive my card and activate the account?
2 - Does the AU need to use the card, or is it sufficient to just have it and activate?

Thanks!

IME they only give you an additional 20k so you still have to make up the 5k by adding an AU.

dont ask why but i've "discovered" that the card activation is nonsense as chase, amex, and citi cards all work before u activate them

that's probably due to the fact that its the same card just with a different name (same number exp. and cvc etc.)

IME that happened either when it was a shared card number or when the card was sent via UPS/fedex.

Does amex unlike chase count Authorized users as part of your credit when considering you?

there is no cc issuer that does that. the only thing that might count is a co-signer on the account, which amex doesn't have at all, only chase.
