SS# has nothing to do with an AU account or joint account. Does Chase even offer joint CC accounts anymore?

Was that the question or was it which bank counts your cards that you're an AU on when considering approving an app. And citi does that AFAIK
+1 I assumed he was talking about considering another AU when approving you for credit. I guess OP should've been more specific.
but as far as considering given you credit if YOU are an AU on someone else's account, I just say with amex and chase it worked amazing IME, where I added someone, new to credit, on my years old account and was eventually not long after approved on the spot.

as it is, I'm not getting it, does it show in your CR if you are the PACH or the AU ? doesn't an AU'S history go back on the CR the same way the PACH does ?

I'm just say'in©®

IME Chase told me they don't count being an AU as your avail credit or payment history. Chase doesn't give you an option to a provide a SS# when adding an AU. Chase allows joint accounts and ask for SS# and that counts towards your credit.

You seem a bit confused.  An AU and a joint holder aren't the same thing.

Please give an example of a card that allows joint holders.

Right, but after you receive the card you call them up and they send you a form to be signed by both, you send it back and thats it.

Is a joint cardholder a better boost to someone's credit? Better than an au?

And can anyone become one or you have to get a hard pull?

A joint is better than AU. You only get a soft pull for that.

I was recently told this by Chase as well, with regards to an AU on my Chase SP VS.

That's the easiest and fastest way to build credit for a newbie. I, personally, after not being approved for any card I applied for, and only resulted in 7 hard pulls in 1 month (!) on EX, I added myself to my moms SP $12K CL as a joint, waited 1 billing cycle to go by and then I was approved for ALL the cards I applied since then!

I actually know someone that added joint account holders for united and continental cards
