Just more proof that Avast is such a great Anti-virus as I have mentioned so many times :)

When I upgraded to Win8, I just went with Windows Defender instead of installing all of the FAR Norton Internet Security's that I have. [I also have Malwarebytes PRO.]
The above stats are making me re-think this, but how reliable is it?

Hard to tell, big part of getting a virus depends on the user not the anti-virus

Right, as DH said.
And, MalwareBytes is great.  Although I felt it was a memory hog..

Haven't yet gotten a virus, and it is over ten years already.
Although I have always been a Norton user, until I installed Win8 decided to try go without.
I hope I don't regret it ... just concerned that Norton IS will hog up resources more than MSE.
Any advice from someone in the know?

IIRC, the issue was when running it alongside an AV.  Two real-time scanners is a bad idea, always.

Unless you have Malwarebytes pro, it isn't a real-time scanner so it doesn't slow you down....
I am a big fan of avast these days. I'll take it over Norton any day

I bought a new laptop which has windows 8. I am having trouble connecting to my wifi. It says that the connection is limited. There are videos that say to unclick the box in power management that says "allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" but it doesnt seem to be working. Here is one of the videos -

Any help would be appereciated

Win 8 sometimes has an issue where the wireless driver gets "confused". Go to device manager, delete the wireless driver from network - but don't check off the box about deleting driver as well. Then right click and let it scan for newe hardware, it will reinstall the wireless card. Now try it and you should be ok

The Acer V5 and V7 have a known issue similar to what you're explaining. If you have that computer go to the Acer website and download an updated driver for the wireless card.
