Just checked 39dollarglasses.com -- selected photochromic lenses (where the lenses change from dark to light) -- the add-on charge for the lenses alone is $39.95 -- that's before shipping and before the cost of the frames.  Not sure where you got $42 for the whole shebang -- you're not comparing apples to apples.

My bad. I thought the "Transition VI (sun sensor)" meant sunglasses and the tint was something you could add on afterwards. Thanx for the clarification!  Now if I could just find a frame which would pass for sunglasses and not glasses with a tint

Try the yellow or green acetate frames -- they would look good with a brown tinted lens.  If they're not great, you're only out $20 

I just ordered them last week -- I'll post when they come in and let you know how they look in person.  Lens size is fairly small -- so may not be the best for sunglasses.

Yeah. Mine worked out well. They just always end up appearing smaller online than in person, so be careful.

How do they go about the lenses? When do they cut them? Can you return them if they were cut already?

I used Coastal and bought three pairs. I sent each one to a different address to qualify for the "first pair free" deal. IIRC, it ended costing approx $9 for each pair. Even after they send you the lenses with your prescription, you can still return for a full refund for 365 days.

A friend of mine once asked an optometrist about buying these glasses, as he thought they maybe detrimental to his eyes (low quality). After the doc, checked into it, he started buying from Coastal, Zenni, etc....
