Again, link has been quoted above for a method that still works for some people and that has helped unlock thousands of iphones the past few weeks:

Indeed, for 5.1 only official unlock from the carrier is available which I did on my at&t phones and which is also available on sprint and verizon

Thanx for the post, yet this is only for att/T-Mobile for CD a sprint/Verizon u would still need a jailbreak

Has anyone had any recent experience unlocking an ATT iphone? Also what about Sprint and Verizon?

I have contacted ATT today to unlock an ATT iPhone. The phone is not tied to a contract... They told me that I have to have an account, or a previous account that the phone was on, has anyone unlocked an iPhone without the iPhone currently being on an ATT account?

this website is offering it for $40 but it doesnt look any where as legit as applenberry...

I called at&t a few weeks ago with an out of contract iPhone, told them I was going out of town, got a free factory unlock.

Will only work w/ an out of contract iPhone.

It could be a pain - as they open a case, it could take up to 10 days, and sometimes there will be no response from them at all.

Officially you have to be an ATT customer, I got them to do a bunch of iPhone even though I'm not a customer...

There is no way to find out about the 5 right now. Technically, it should work.
I'll be buying mine outright and unlocked, get's me an unlocked iPhone with a warranty backed by the full faith and credit of American Express.

I highly doubt it.

The iPhone 4s unlock only came avail a few months after the iPhone was released...

If I would be able to get iPhones 5 unlocked that really would be awesome...
Either way, when the unlock option is avail the price will start out at $150 (I would guess) that's what the price started on the 4s... The price is going down every day...
