Amex Membership Rewards cant issue Points Anymore

I spoke to Amex MR they said that they don't have the ability to issue points anymore for bonuses, they have to put in an inquiry to the back office and only they can add points. I'm guessing they took their ability away, since last year too many points were given with all the matching going on.

Are they doing this for legit signup bonuses or for matching (which AFAIK dosent work with amex anymore)

But I recently tried asking them to match the 25k prg Amex which I got a week before and they told me they can't do it manually but will send it in to diff dep.

+1 the crackdown started after it got posted to SD and thousands of people started flooding Amex with matching requests.

SD is where deals go to die.
