Hotel: Marriott residence inn booked via hotels.com
Incident: scheduled water outage from 12 am to 4 am. Also, the ac settings were locked and maintenance had already gone home for the night
Compensation: hotels.com refunded my entire 2 night stay

How long does Hilton honors usually take to respond to a complaint ? They emailed me that they received my complaint, and will contact hotel etc. to work on it, but no response for 3 weeks already.
Update: I finally got a response, and the wait was well worth it. I got 1 free night certificate, at any Waldorf Astoria property.

When it comes to SPG hotels is it better to complain to the manager of the hotel or to SPG itself? Which one is more generous?
i complained to spg. then they contacted the manager of the hotel and got a nice compensation from him :)

W Hotel Ft. Lauderdale. found  crumbs in our bed when we arrieved and TV didnt work properly. Starwwod gave me 4K points. Any way to try to get more than that? Going to hotel manager directly?

Not once you accepted their offer.
I was able to get another 2k form their social media center by tweeting to them about this. total of 6k = not too bad.

Status at time of incident: res. was from DIA acc
Incident: lighting issue, maintenance was in my room from 12:30AM till 1:15AM
Compensation: Be My Guest  certificate for any Waldorf
                       
note got that from calling Waldorf intl. hotel was dragging out the process

Hotel: Sheraton Atlantic City- 2 rooms
Year of incident: 2015
Status at time of incident: platinum
Incident: club lounge closed with no warning from the hotel when booking
I filled out the survey and no one got back to me 2 weeks later I called SPG platinum and they said someone would get back to me. 30 min later I got a call from the hotel and they offered me 1k spg points. I told her that was not enough especially since I had 2 rooms and she said shell get back to me. Still haven't heard back. will update
