I emailed Starwood this complaint for a night that cost 2800 points and $45:
"On August 8th I visited The Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport. I found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. However I am disappointed with the issue that came up with the phone in the room. Soon after I arrived I tried using the phone, however it was not working. After complaining to the front desk, someone came up to the room attempting to fix the phone. First he tried to change the battery, then the headset, then the whole base; each time leaving the room for a few minutes. In total it took about an hour from when he arrived, until the phone was functional. During that time he was coming and leaving from the room, thereby inhibiting my privacy, and ability to take care of whatever I needed to. While I appreciate his efforts, I expect the phone to be functional, and a shorter time for fixing the problem. Maybe, technicians should carry more parts with them when coming to repair a problem. I hold Starwood in high regard, and hope they will stand behind their great reputation, and reimburse me for my inconvenience.

They didn't have a decent room for me till 1/2 hr. before Shabbos.
Tons of noise from the room next door.
A/C wasn't working well.

They gave me 10,000 SPG points compensation.
And didn't charge me for parking.

You guys think I should ask for more :P

the hotel itself was able to give you points on the spot? which staff member has the ability to do that?

I spoke to the manager  there on duty before I left. She offered 10k or 3k + $50

I had a prepaid reservation at the westin hotel for 4 nights i didn't make it the first night i arrived in the morning and i was told i need to wait the room is not ready yet i said i paid already he told me that reservation i lost because i arrived late.
i would like to get some compensation to whom is the best to write about this issue?
i'm spg gold
got 12k starpoints compensation

 Toilet clogged twice. noise on the first night ( party going on ontop of us) no kosher dinner ( hospitality hour) no upgrades

Manager said he'll give 700 points for the kosher dinner issue. When i never got that i called to complain about all of the above. hotel just gave me a lousy 1K points.

im kinda pissed I was expecting a lot more.

A clogged bathroom is a serious complaint!! :(
