Do not disturb was on.

Was a 6 night stay. Tropical climate with outdoor shower connected to the bathroom & doors to a pool outside.

I emailed the manager again saying he can do a lot better based on what I paid. Letís see what happens.
Agree he should, depending on how dramatic you play the walk in.

If say, some1 were to have a 10 night stay and there was an incident, I would not expect the hotel to reimburse in full. But if it were a 3 night stay, I see some room for argument....

if the do not disturb sign was on then you should ask for alot more
you could of been in middle of who knows what when the person walked in

You can ask, but I doubt you'll get. Did you loose or suffer anything?

Basic negotiating skills, is to always ask for more.

Thatís why I complained but Iím not going crazy about it. Although I was in two different rooms & I noticed that my first did not have a seal going fully around the outdoor shower so it could be it boils r down to a maintenance issue on their end.

I was referring to these
Bugs and a lizard? Full refund from my point of view.
Agree, if it was a long stay settle for a bit less.

Grand Hyatt DFW gave me a room on the second floor after I booked a room with a runway view - which obviously had no view of the runway.

Did you ask them to move you or you just took the room and hoped to get compensation after the fact?

I donít know if this is the right thread to post this but I couldnít find a better thread and didnít want to start a new one. I booked a crazy low (non-refundable) rate on hotels.com for a Jerusalem property ($60 a night for a 2brm apt. In a nice bldg where Iíve stayed before). A couple days after the booking I get an email from the property saying they donít have my unit available (not true) and that there is a rate discrepancy (true, it most likely was an error) and to call hotels.com to cancel.  So I figure fine no problem and I call hotels.com, explained the email and said if they donít want to give me the room at that price itís ok but then they need to give me a refund as I canít cancel it online. The guy says he needs to get approval from the property for the refund. They didnít answer when he called so he will start a case to process my refund.  Two days later I get an email from the property saying I booked a non-refundable rate, they donít authorize my refund request and they suggest using the reservation!!  Iím assuming an idiot employee didnít look at the rate and just saw it was non-refundable and denied the request.

Honestly I want to keep the 5 nights at $300 total but I just donít want to show up, they refuse to honor the reservation and then not have anything for my family.  If I go and they donít give me the apartment (obviously Iím bringing the email where they tell me itís a non-refundable rate, deny my refund and say I should just use the reservation) are they or hotels.com obligated to put me up somewhere else (my reservation clearly says for 6 people)? Or will they then process the refund and Iíll get my money back but be stuck trying to book other accommodations?

Sorry for the megila and any help is greatly appreciated!

Call the property on a recorded line and reconfirm that the apartment IS available and if they say it is then I would be 95% comfortable relying on it. For the other 5% chance I would have a backup plan.
