miles transfers, questions
« on: March 02, 2012, 01:58:43 PM »
does anyone know where i can find info about transferring miles?
i want to know for LAN, and A3.
basically i want to buy my friends miles, if i buy from all of them(5+) it would be a nice amount, but i wanted to know, if i can accept from all of them? i know companies sometimes limit how much you can transfer (maybe who too? like only family?) or charge a fee?, etc. so i wanted to know before i started if anyone knows or has experiance with these airlines. TIA

With most airlines (incl. LAN, not sure about A3), you can redeem points from your friend's account for a ticket in your name. Transferring miles cost $$$, an is typically cost prohibitive. Might also want to check out A3's award chart, to see if you have any use for the amount of miles he's offering.

so your saying when i want to book the ticket, i give them a list of say 10 people to take 5000 miles from each account? i'm not sure i understand you?
if so, what info does LAN need? do they need the on the phone? or an email? or is there some type of link they click on?
thank you!

Nope. All the miles must come from one account for each redemption.
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Even if it's possible, it isn't worth the costs. With LAN, you'd be better off getting a hold of SPG points and transferring those to your account (if you need to add miles).

Here are the unnecessary ripoff costs:
http://www.lan.com/en_us/sitio_personas/lanpass/acerca_de_lanpass/transferencia_kms.html
FWIU, A3 doesn't offer mileage transfers.

P.s. GIYF!

It would cost you over $500 just for the transfers, and you'd need 9 accounts for 70k
