Do your jury duty.

Manhattan Criminal Court:
The boring introductory speech takes about 45 minutes, and should begin relatively on time. Therefore, coming 45 minutes late is no big deal.

If you have a deferment, don't waster your time at the criminal court. Go straight to 60 Centre Street room 139. The line can get busy, so try to come at a good time.

A relative of mine got jury duty. They said since it was pushed off once it can't be pushed off again. Is that true? HUCA works by these things?

How about you do your civic duty and stop trying to beat the system. You want to vote then do your duty.

Maybe he's one of those who don't want to vote this time around. :)

The criminal justice system is an abomination. I would understand why any law abiding citizen would want nothing to do with it.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I don't vote any time around and I still went to Jury Duty.

So is our political system.

I figure that if I want to be able to complain about the justice system I need to do my part. I can't keep getting out of jury duty then complain that other people are getting it wrong.

Now, if only I could trade in my civic (jury) duty, in exchange for giving up my "right" to vote, I would probably do it (though I would consult my LOR to verify that it is permissible).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Hopefully that someone was trying to get out of jury duty. Don't need those types anyway.

I think even more than that. Last time I was given jury duty I didn't respond (negligently) . They served me a subpoena (however you spell it). I went down to the courts office and showed them I was out if the country I will continue to be by showing them a booked flight. They excused me. It might be I got off easy though.

why assume he is wiggling out? First time around was right before his wedding and now he is out of town for that date.
And yes I would give up jury duty if it came with  giving up voting, especially this November.

If they can prove you where actually delinquent, yes, you can go to jail.
Why do people think that jury duty is fun amd games? It's a crime to miss it and if they decide to track you to see if you actually get the letters, you'll be put up in jail and get fined heavily.
I'm not who you think I am.
