Do your jury duty.

Manhattan Criminal Court:
The boring introductory speech takes about 45 minutes, and should begin relatively on time. Therefore, coming 45 minutes late is no big deal.

If you have a deferment, don't waster your time at the criminal court. Go straight to 60 Centre Street room 139. The line can get busy, so try to come at a good time.

I see this thread was started in 2012.
Based on this and similar threads, some insist that if you ignore a "delinquent notice" letter they send you its ok, as its not certified.
Others say you can not ignore the letters.
Four years later, can anyone say they have successfully ignored the letters?
(or are they locked up now with no access to ddf)
Btw way when they lock you up they will throw the key away. ;)

I've been ignoring them for years. I don't even know if it says delinquent or not.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Same here. They give me 3 warnings. Every 3 letters they start again.

Not necessarily. I believe in doing my civic duties, but my duty to put bread on the table for my wife and kids come first.

Is it really over your normal pay? I would do jury duty any day - not like any one's docking my pay

I've never been, but am curious to be on a jury. Sounds like fun.

And, being that i"m on a set annual salary, I dont think I loose any pay if I need to take off to serve.
