What time period? They are probably descendants of Judean, Samaritan, Idumaean, Ituraean, and Galilean and much more recently Arabs/Muslims... Still don't understand what point you are trying to make...

Well now njmacman's son can just read this thread as a history source :) lol (although probably not very accurate or well written compared to a book.)

If he is old enough, he may find Ben Hecht's "Perfidy" to be an interesting and enlightening read

Just trying to explain that they are Palestinians, not "calling themselves Palestinians". Weather they have a right in our holy land is a different question. Period. Don't explode with extremism, its not cute, be realistic.

He should check this out if he has internet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Israel and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine he can then see the references and take out of a library the ones that seem interesting. That is what I do when I look into a subject I don't know much about...

Please read above quoted articles and here http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_early_palestine_name_origin.php sorry to say you are completely wrong therefore there is no reason to argue.

+1

(If you're interested in other accounts of that story, read the Transfer Agreeement and Min Hameitzar, in English: the unheeded cry.)

As well as Leon Uris' historical novel, Exodus.
Then there's Startup Nation, which is a really cool book on Israel, but not quite historical.
By Way of Deception was an interesting book about the mossad.
The Liberty Incident, a book about the alleged sunk an Israeli ship intentionally during the 6-day war.

None of these are broad overviews of Israeli history, but they're all great books.

the term palestinian would indicate a right to this land, as this land was called palestine pre 1948. do yourself a favor and read 'from time immemorial' where will you find out the true history of that people, how they came to reside in our land and how they magically became a 'people', with a supposed connection to the land to boot

Yehuda Avners 'Prime Minister' is one of my all time best books, never mind Israel. I know a few people who read it and all are reading it again and again.
