United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

My story in short:
I applied for the united without a new FFN (silly me). Sent them an SM and they told me they will match me to the 55k plus $50 statement when i meet the spending requirement.

I then met the spending requirement, sent them a SM and they replied that they see i have recieved the bonus in the past and therefore i wont be able to receive it now.

So i HUCA SM saying that they should have never told me im eligible for the bonus if i truly wasn't and......

Hello Lcyitz

Thank you for re-contacting Chase regarding your Chase
MileagePlus® Explorer credit card account.

Under the Chase United MileagePlus program you are
entitled to one enrollment bonus incentive per MileagePlus
product for life.

Our records indicate you received 50,000 enrollment miles
under the MileagePlus Explorer program on May 11, 2012 and
5000 on June 11, 2012 from Explorer account ending in 3145
which has since been closed due to the Annual fee billing
in 2013.

I have added the additional 55,000 enrollment mile and the
$50.00 statement bonus due to the inaccurate information
provided by my Colleague on May 22, 2013. The miles have
been issued as an exception, and will be reflected on your
next billing.

You may also earn an additional 10,000 miles if you meet
the $25,000.00 spend qualifier in a calendar year (January
1st to December 31st).

Please remember any future accounts you apply for and
approved under the MileagePlus Explorer program will not
earn you an enrollment incentive as stated on each
application.

It has been my pleasure in assisting you, if you have any
questions you may call me directly at the number provided
below.

Sincerely

You are lucky! Congrats!

You get more saver availability when you search logged in to an account linked to a UAMPE Chase card.

How do I link my account to my UAMPE card? Is this something that happens automatically. I don't seem to see any more saver availability whether I am logged in or not.

Were your two FF accounts registered under the same address?

2) if use p.o box as 2nd address that would be ok even if in same city ?
3) if did above way-- address would not match credit report --problem?

It just isn't lost on me the correlation between them catching churners and them "contacting United and finding duplicate FF accounts." They're system is obviously FFN-centric and not SSN-centric. So i'm hypothesizing that them being able to find duplicate FF accounts may play a role in their recent success in stopping churners. Why else are they reaching out to united? So yes, based on this thinking, different addresses would help (United has no other means of identifying you). The above is pure speculation, of course.

Yes it does. But had they not corroborated their suspicion, maybe they would have dropped it. This is not the only case - there seems to be a trend. Here's another one:
Did anyone ever have this.  My friend opened a new united card with a new ff# and asked to get matched and this what was received.

Thank you for contacting Chase about your United
MileagePlus® Explorer credit card account ending in xxxx.

We reviewed your account and see you recently opened a new
United MileagePlus credit card account, which offers 30,
000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000 in the first 3
months your account is open. Unfortunately, you will not
be able to receive the bonus miles since you received a
similar offer in the past. Here is additional information
to help explain the enrollment bonus:

? The terms and conditions associated with the credit card
indicate that the one-time offer is only for first-time
United MileagePlus cardmembers with a new account.
? Since you received 25,000 bonus miles in March 2012 on
your previous account ending in xxxx, you are not
considered a first time cardmember.
? Based on this information, this new account is not able
to receive the enrollment bonus miles.

Additionally, we confirmed you have two frequent flyer
numbers in your name xxxxxxx and xxxxxxx. We contacted
United and had the two frequent flyer numbers merged into
the active number xxxxxx. We updated the credit card
account to reflect this number. Going forward all miles
will be sent to frequent flyer account xxxxxx. Please
allow 24-48 hours for this information to be reflected on
United.com.
Again, i know that as of now it's pure speculation. But it definitely warrants some investigating.

think we need some more data --- as from what I remember, this just started in the last few days -- b4 , it seemed to happen when people did not wait for miles to post to untd and requested the match

Is it only a "united thing"??

I never contacted them on this until points posted to united account -so i think suspected is not it -- unless you can tell me what u think they suspected ? -- been with chase 30 years have and had many c.c. , never turned down for any request -

We know that every other c.c. co. has "tightened" and chase is not stupid , plus I am sure they lurk the blogs

oh, I'm sure they're lurking but it sounds pretty interesting if their new standard procedure is, that any1 who applies for a united card gotta be run by united to make sure this is not the second time for the bonus.more likely something from chase's end though I don't know what

I agree, I too doubt if it is untd -- it must be chase -- chase buys the points --if can give less it is good for them-- untd sells -so why would untd want to be the policeman

I would think the same way. It's so easy for them just to run your name through their own system and see if you got the bonus yet. Still, the fact is they don't do that. They base your receiving the bonus on your FFN. And let's not ignore the elephant in the room, namely, why are they contacting united and merging your accounts.

If my hypothesis stands true, keeping your FF accounts listed under different addresses would technically solve the problem.

Just some (speculative) food for thought...

Happens more and more lately- I see it often with Lufthansa.
Sometimes you can get them to book it anyways. Depends how much patience you have to spend on the phone.
