United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Lol, you've spent way too much time on FT and BA sites.  Once you get more involved here, please don't post everything on their Wiki.

I spend all my time on DDF not even subscribed to FT or whatever BA is. But when I Google stuff since obviously everything isn't always here I do see posts from other blogs that can be quite helpful.

As for the wiki update, I was just following what I saw on Citi AA Master Thread where they link to FT wiki since it is more comprehensive. Didn't realize the issue with the referral. Still fairly new to this...

Well that just makes what I quoted you on all the more bizarre.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Firstly if you're using the same FF# no amount of years will help OTH if you create a new FF# and follow the steps in the wiki you can get the same product again even while having the old one open. Secondly I don't exactly understand what you want with the Hyatt card, I would just apply for a couple more cards, 3 cards from Chase in a year+ is nothing crazy.

Thanks.   With the Hyatt card I am concerned it will impact credit rating and or ability to get future chase cards if my history shows they closed an account (as opposed to at my request). Or if the loss of a large credit line  could be a problem

I appreciate the benefit of the doubt :)
Actually I screwed up my application (always double and triple check those 3bms!) and thought I added the authorized user but didn't. Has anyone had luck adding that after the fact and getting the points? I SMed this morning but I'm wondering if there's a way to do it myself online.

No need to add the AU at the time of application. You can add it anytime in the first 3 months of account opening to get the additional 5k.

When closing a card after the annual fee posted do they refund the fee automaticly or you need to request it?

Firstly if you're using the same FF#
if I have a targeted offer from chase telling me to open up a new explorer card on my ff# (that I already have a card for) and they will give me the 50k miles is there any reason to be concerned they won't honor it?
