United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Put your name as Freddy instead of Freddie ;-)

For the address put a Willi address instead of a BP address.

Interesting that a UTA graduate needed a lesson in this.

Following. What is Willi / BP?

Also wondering if its an issue to combine ff accounts later. Isn't UA gonna be suspicious?! About Freddie and Freddy? Or do you just have to keep the 2 accts separate?

To combine accounts all the information on both accounts must be the same.

Willi is short for Williamsburg and BP stands for Boro Park. Let UA be suspicious. I think the Freddie/Freddy was a joke...

So in that case to combine accounts later u make 2 FF for UA with exact same info and then u can combine later? This isn't sketchy biz as far as united is concerned?

Not sure if my Club passes ever came or if I lost them, so I called up Chase and asked if it was possible to get new ones and could they be expedited as I'm going on a trip soon and they said sure!
Showed up today via UPS with a handwritten letter :)

So, basically, there is no consensus on how to open a second UA FF#.

The wiki says to do it but doesn't say how to do it. Pretty useless.

Can someone with real experience getting this bonus twice please speak up?

Thanks for the clear answer.

Then the two FF accounts can be merged later?

I merged my FF account that I had as a kid (with like 800 miles) into my new one after I got my cc. Don't see why you can't do it now either. Only thing I don't know is whether the new FFN can have the same address as the last one or if a new email is all you need.

How come there's such lack of clarity. I thought guys on this forum were getting new UMP cards every year.

You can put your FF# on your new CC app

I'm sure there are guys getting it several times a year. Not everyone likes sharing churning info.

You mean put your current (and only) FF# on a new ap?

So then the wikki is wrong. Is that what you're saying?

Open a 2nd account with your 1st name mispelled by 1 letter, + a different address and email.

Once you get your miles, go to United.com and fix the misspelling in your name (a one letter change can be done online without the need to send in proof..) and change the address and email to match your 1st account

Then request the two account to be merged. Bingo!!

I don't believe you need to go to this extent.
