United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

what if someone doesnt have another chase cc...yet. only the united explorer. so no other cc to move CL to.  if i closed it and reapplied will the new cl be much lower or same?
Dont close the card and lose the credit line. Rather ask chase to downgrade you to a card with no annual fee or any other card

I did a search but nothing came so don't shoot me if this was mentioned.  ::)
I currently have 3 united accounts; one with 100k one with 55k from the most recent mileage plus cc and one with no miles. Any reason not to call and have them all combined?

Gotcha. So I would combine the 100k with the 55k then the combined 155k with the 0 balance? Or can I do 3 at once

I recently applied for the United card for a third time, I mistakenly left the FFN blank, they "found" my existing account and added it to the card. I created a new number and called in to Chase to add that one instead. They did just that, however United merged my old account with this new one, without my asking them to. I then received a letter in the mail from Chase,

"as we value your business we want to keep you apprised of goings-on regarding your account. You recently applied for a card that had a bonus, as you have previously received this bonus before you will be illegible, and wont be receiving it this time."

Am I screwed?

I had created new Mileage plus account. new FFN number. I had put that one on application as well. Following happened. any suggestions? Should have not inquired to begin with? How to counter it now? Looks like I am sheer unlucky, that all my churning cards are becoming non-churning now.

Dear XXX,

Thank you for contacting us about your United MileagePlus®
credit card account.

We reviewed your account and see you recently opened a new
United MileagePlus credit card account, which offers bonus
miles after your first purchase using the new card.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive the bonus
miles since you received a similar offer in the past.

Here is additional information to help explain the
enrollment bonus:

?The terms and conditions associated with the credit card
indicate that the one-time offer is only for first-time
United MileagePlus cardmembers with a new account.
?Since you received 50,000 bonus miles in March 2012 on
your previous account ending in XXX, you are not
considered a first time cardmember.
?Based on this information, this new account is not able
to receive the enrollment bonus miles.

If you have any questions, please call us at the number on
the back of your card. We?re here to assist you anytime.

Thank you for being our customer. We appreciate your
business.

Hello. I have activated my new united mileage explorer
card today. I have also added XXX as authorized
user. My understanding is that promotion, that I signed up
for is that I will get 50000 miles after spending $1000
within first 3 months. Also I will get 5000 additional
miles to add XXX as authorized user. In addition, I
will get $50 in statement credit. My first year fee of $95
will be waived.

Can you please confirm above terms of my promotional
offer.

Sorry to hear that not sure what to do going forward, in the future though probably do not contact them about churned cards. Maybe send a SM after the statement closes asking where the points are and see what happens.

Just got the 10k bonus for 25k spend this month. I only spent 22,300 on card this year. Is it possible they counted the spending from December since the statement closed in January?

It's a year (12 months) from when you opened the card, not a calendar year (i.e. Jan-Dec).
