United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

0 for 2 on SM to match for DW. Any suggestions? Should I try another time?

why not. try by phone this time, easier to explain things that way.

Added tageted link to Wiki.

Situation- I had logged in to my account. I had targeted offer of 50K miles + $50, when you try to go and buy a ticket, that comes up. I clicked on it. Changed my FFN#, (Right click, Inspect Element and change). Yes- you can change FFN# on targeted offer. As I had taken miles on this FFN# few years back already. this is also my FFN#, which is primary number, where I merge all my United cards points with duplicate accounts with different FFN#.

Now card arrived, but it had same FFN# written on back, which is associated with account. not new one created? what can I expect?
Seems from your experience that you can not. Can anyone confirm success changing FFN on targeted offer?

How long is it recommended to wait after closing an Explorer card before applying again (with a new United FFN? Is the Club card considered a totally separate product in regard to getting soon after closing Explorer card?

Is the United Club card really so great without any signup bonus?

I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

If you meet the qualifiers listed below I will issue the
additional 20,000 bonus miles as an exception to bring
your premium to the 50,000 enrollment mile offer.

* 50,000 bonus miles after you meet the $2000.00 spend
qualifier (with in 3 months of opened date)
* 5,000 bonus miles for adding an Authorized User to the
account (with in 3 months of opened date)

Once you have met the spend you will need to contact me
directly at the number I have provided below or by secure

Lol that will be a fun phone call  ::)

I've had to call after meeting spend for a SM, but never a direct line

If I have a 50k link active on a FFN I already received the bonus on, can I just apply under this FFN (since I won't have to SM to match) or is it safer to make new FFN and apply under that?

Won't you lose the bonus if you use this FFN ?

That's why I was asking. I guess not worth the risk-so should just change it-even though there seems to be some recent confusion on if that actually works or not...

If you received the bonus with in the last 24 months under that FFN, you will not receive it again if apply using it.

It does.

While applying the app was different then I recognized. Multiple pages and the ffn was editable- no fancy code necessary.

When I first got this card (June '14) getting matched was easy. My wife just got this card and matching took a lot of effort (3 wor 4 SMs), but I finally got them to do so. Farther back in the thread you can find some 50k screenshots you can try and use as proof... As always, ymmv.

My mom did not get card benefits (free bag, priority boarding, etc) for a flight booked with Mileage Plus card since she's not primary card holder.
a) Is that normal?
b) Can she do anything about it for return flight?

Primary Cardmembers and one companion traveling on the same reservation will receive their first bags free each time they fly.
when they purchase their tickets with card.

You sure about that?
Would I  get free baggage on Air Canada flights if I credit the miles to my United FFN?
