United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

I did a 2bm about a month ago for a UMPE and BA. Instant approval for BA, but declined for United. 5 recon calls and a SM later I still couldnt manage the approval. Problem was too many requests for credit and short length of credit history (about a year and a half). Any recommendations as to when to reapply to maximize chances of approval? Especially now that I got a targeted offer for 50k for just 2k spend (that ends May 8th)

Are the UMPE & United Rewards considered the same product? I downgraded to the United Rewards a while back and now with the new 50K offer I wanna reapply for the UMPE (new ffn of course). Do I need to close the United Rewards before I can reapply for the UMPE or if so, do I need to wait 30 days?

New United cards? This is what I see at UAL.com. Clicking leads to a Japanese website.

Looks like if you make a reservation on united there is an offer for 50K + $50 statement credit.

Possible for anybody to get the 55k + $50 offer, just start making any booking on the United website. On the first page to the right hand side you'll see a small advertisement for the offer. Can't remember if Dan has Chase links or not, if he does it might be worth waiting 12-24 hours to see if there are links for this deal or not so you can support him.

I just got this card for the 2nd time. Can I merge the two FFNs right away, or should I wait 'til I get the bonus points?

If it's less than 24 months since you got the 1st bonus you should wait.

I already have united card, but I never added AU for 5k.

Can I just add now and I will receive the 5k? Or is it a special offer?

The odds are the link you applied with included the 5K offer, but you definitely have to have done it within the 90 days of signing up for the cards (if not sooner?).

If it's less than 24 months since you got the 1st bonus you should wait.

I'm curious, the current terms of the offer clearly state that:

"This new cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this consumer credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this consumer credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this consumer credit card within the last 24 months."

So if it has been over 24 month since one last got the bonus, why does one still need to open a new FFN? why can't use the existing UA FFN?

Thanks
