United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Why 8?
4x2=8
it sounds like its safer to cancel and then rebook?
I am flying with my wife and 2 kids, we both have explorer cards-so i will take a kid, she will take a kid and we will have 8 guaranteed bags, no questions correct?

Why didn't you just cancel it online?
I tried and it said I would not get all my money back, so, I figured I would just call, no wait, just hard to understand those csr reps sometimes

Data Point: I recently applied for the public offer of 30,000 and successfully matched today to the targeted 50,000 offer (after $2k more in spending) via SM. I included a screenshot of the 50,000 offer in my message.

This was their response:
Quote
The current offer for the Chase Explorer Consumer program
is 50,000 miles with a required $3000.00 spend with in the
first 3 months of the account opened date.

If you meet the qualifying spend by the deadline of
xx/xx/xxxx, I will override the amount of the
enrollment bonus as an exception and issue the additional
20,000 miles.

Anyone have success getting the annual fee waived recently?

If not does chase still allow me to downgrade to a 2nd Freedom?

How long do I have to wait before reapplying? Is it 12 months?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Did they ever allow you to downgrade the UMPE to a Freedom?

No need to wait at all, whether you'll get the bonus is a different question.

What I meant by need was to be eligible for the signup bonus.

If it's been more than two years since I last got the bonus, can I use my existing FFN or is it still recommended to sign up with a new FFN?

Existing is fine.
