United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Why 8 days ?
If you finish spending within 7 days of statement close, it usually posts on the next statement, said 8 days to be on the safe side.

Oh! Do I have wait once the charge post on my account? Or pending is enough?

Applied with new FFN, declined because received the bonus in last 24. So new FFN doesn't work anymore?

1)If I use my travel bank balance for a ticket as long as I put $1 on the United card I can still get free suitcase for myself and companion?
2) If I use a different card for the purchase but have a valid united card will they waive the luggage or are they strict? (And assuming the ticket has to be for the primary card holder?)
(I get $100 via Visa infinite so wanted to utilize both)

Have people retained enhanced saver award availability even after they downgraded to the No AF United card?  If so for how long?

Current offer through DD link is for 40,000 bonus miles after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is ope. Anything for 50k?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Sign into your account and search for a flight. You might have a 60k+$50 offer on that page.

IIRC, the standard in-branch offer is still 50k.

i think 70k is gone
It's 60k now. I applied right before the 70k ended in the beginning of August.

Official, UA's policy about basic economy is that as long as a UA cardholder is on the reservation, everyone on the reservation will get a free carry on
Is this in official writing anywhere?

I have the United Mileage Plus credit card but book my flights through Chase UR portal, do I still get free checked luggage?

Quoting my own post to follow up. Unfortunately, neither United nor Chase were able to give me free luggage because I didn't pay anything on my United CC (lesson elarned, thanks Oceanblue!). Chase did give me 5,000 points after I explained that I thought I would get free luggage and we were six people and the luggage price (6x$50 RT) was more than 2 tickets (we paid under 60,000 UR for 6 tickets)!  We decided to pack everything in carry on luggage and just check one suitcase for things we couldn't bring as carryon (like a knife). When we got to the airport, the United clerk gave us a free suitcase for the way there. Unfortunately, on the way back we had to pay $25 for the suitcase because the clerk claimed she couldn't do it without a manager.
