United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

A friend of mine tried the hacking method mentioned upthread of changing the name in the offer. He got a letter to his house with the name he hacked out on the letter - DECLINED.

Declined the bonus or declined the card?

card. But the main point is, that even though the name was changed on the app, on Chase's computers it came in as the old app.

A simple way to avoid that is by calling chase right after you apply and they'll fix the name on the app for you.

How do you explain why the wrong name is on the app?

I sent chase a whole letter the day I got approved for the UE. Wasn't interested in wasting any time ;D
This is what I got back.
It looks promising....

Dear ****,

Thank you for contacting Chase regarding the enrollment
bonus offer included with your United MileagePlus® credit
card account.

We understand you are interested in an offer that provides
50,000 miles and a $50 statement credit. Please reply to
this message when you have received your Explorer card. We
will be happy to review your account details to determine
whether a rewards adjustment should be made.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

I applied for a friend and I called up recon to see and they didn't see it on his name so I gave my name and said that my friend (me) send me a link but I don't know why it's his name not mine, so they changed it and then I got approved.

Try logging in to your Mileage-plus account.
I just did and I have a 50k offer for personal and business.
If you do then send them the link, or take a screen shot.

Not if you log into an account that hasn't been targeted IME.

Just send them the link and tell them that you applied through the link after you logged in to your MP account.
I did the same thing and after a back and forth of a few messages they matched me.

So you had the same experience?
After hacking out the old name, it went thru on the old name?

Just reply that your bank has the offer in-branch and they will honor it IME.
I sent 5 secure message's and they refused to budge. I ended up getting matched through twitter
