United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Thanks

now that the $1k spend is done and the 36 K posted on Chase statement , would you suggest sending a new SM Requesting I be matched to this offer enclosing this screenshot ?

my first SM was denied as a targeted offer with the caveat that if I get the targeted  higher (50) K
offer they will match it .

Too much scrutiny as its my 4 th FF # ?

Its been 5 days since statement closed and miles haven't posted to my UA account yet.

Anyone else experiencing delays between statement closing and miles posting?

Yes, my UMPE statement closed on the 13th, and miles didn't post yet.

When I click the targeted offer in my United account, it allows me to edit the FFN in the application. So I could key in a non-targeted account and it would work?

The only thing it wont let you change is the first/last name. However, when you modify the element on chrome it seems like it actually does submit the modified name. I say that because on the final page of the app when I click review application it shows the modified name... So this offer seems share-able

The name and FFN isn't actually changed in Chase's system. So this offer isn't share-able.

Even if that works, what will you do about the name issue?

I was targeted myself, but since I already got it within 24 months I would need to make a new ffn. One which was not targeted for the 50k offer.

You can try, but IMO it's not worth risking the sign up bonus. Either sign up for the 30k and get matched or make a new FFN and try pull up a 50k link with it.

Or walk into a branch and do it there.
The standard in-branch offer is 50+5.

Can someone point me to posts where people report being denied the 50K match via SM'ing?

To be clear, my hesitation for going in branch to open the card is because I want to do a 2bm together with SP, I want to sign up for the SP first and then the United, but I feel that if I sign up for the SP first and then come to the Branch to Open United, they will see that I opened the SP earlier and start to ask questions. Also, I'm unsure that pulls from Online and In Branch in one day will be counted as only one pull. If anyone knows, please fill me in.

Edited to add explanation.
