United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

How do I know if my UE card is connected to my united account to get the benefits that comes with it. Or to frame it in another way, I have 2 united accounts how do I know to which account my card is linked to, if any.

When you hover over the mileage expiration, it should say your miles will not expire as long as you remain s united cardholder.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

If you fly united then it is definitely worth it. However as was mentioned earlier in the thread you can always downgrade the card and then upgrade back when you need the benefits.

Also just bec you dont spend a lot on the card doesnt mean you wont get a retention offer. You dont lose anything by trying.

I downgraded to the free card bc they weren't offering me anything. TY

Any benefits with the free card? Can it be used for foreign transaction fees? Used for lounges? Auto insurance when renting? Is it the same united card or its a different name and look? (you have a link to the card by any chance? Thanks!

Anyone have any recent data points if the "expanded award ticket availability" offered by this card is still useful? I haven't seen any real difference in availability on the routes I'm searching for while signed in.

What do you mean while signed in specifically? You can't search for a flight unless your logged in.

Which united card is this that your referring to?

After booking my ticket i realized that you need to use your UE card in order to qualify for free baggage. Does anyone know if paying for incidentals with my UE card will that get me free bags?

You can search for award availability without being signed into mileageplus.  CORRECT
But you don't get to see the "expanded availability".
Unless you're signed into United and have and Explorer card.

Is there anything to downgrade the business version of the card to? I have the AF coming up and don't intend to keep it.

Can one transfer from ones UR account to united account without having the name match? Or from united accnt to another united accnt?

And lastly can one add an added user for a family member who's flying with using the United points? Would a card be helpful to get for them free luggage?
Or only the main account holder would be eligible?
