United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

I downgraded to the Travel Bank card, maybe it's different if you downgrade to the no fee Mileage Plus card.

Just got my United explorer card, and got an email saying spend $3000 in 30 months you get 50,000 miles. So I guess the offer went up to 50,000, although in the branch they told me it's 40,000 and there is no special offer they could give me.

My friend was just booking a ticket on kayak for a United flight. During checkout it offered him the United card for 40k points a $250 credit to a flight. I could not reproduce though.

Does anyone have the "Guide to Benefits" for this card? I can't seem to locate the PDF for it. Trying to figure out what's covered for a trip delay.

Why wouldn't you wait for a 60K+ offer to return?

in order to get free bags does the flight have to be booked on the actual credit card? if so that means I have to wait till
I get my credit card to book the flight? It is only the primary cardholder and 1 companion flying on the same itinerary gets the free baggage?
it says authorized user traveling on same reservation gets free bag so does that mean I can get a total of 3 bags?

All or part of your ticket needs to be paid for with your united card. I don't remember how many, (with delta it's 6 I believe) but you and your companions, within a limit will get a free bag each.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

No, being an authorized user doesn't give you any benefits.

I was looking for tickets and an ad popped up for United explorer card with a $250 statement credit
when I clicked on apply it says you have to log in with united mileageplus number then it says finding you card offer
then takes you to application how do I know it is offering me the same card with the $250 statement credit and not a different offer?

If I have 6 months to complete spending to get a bonus when signing up for this card, do the 6 months start from the date when I applied for the card, or the date when I was approved for it.

Chase needed me to send in some additional documentation so it took almost a month from when I first applied till I was approved and I’m trying to figure out when I need to complete spending for the bonus miles by.

Thank you

My AF hit. HUCA'd 4 times, no retention at all. Can I downgrade to a free card? If yes, will it add to my 5/24, and do I lose the 2 Club passes?
