United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

i applied for the 50K offer and just got the card in the mail, apparently its not a signature card so it means less benefits, does ayone know if i still get primary CDW with it or if i have a chance to change it for a signature card?
i called chase and they said i didnt apply for the signature cuz the signature comes with a annual fee of at least $200+ so i cud upgrade if i would like to pay the diff., apparently they didnt know what they were talking about, who should i call?

I ordwered the card last month. Today's Dansdeals recommended to get "Matched" for 55,000 miles. I requested additional miles and was turned down.
Any ideas?

I asked to get mached to 55k and 50$ credit and got this

"Thank you for your recent inquiry on your United
MileagePlus Explorer credit card account.

As you requested, we have applied a $50.00 statement
credit and added 25000 enrollment miles to your account.
You will see the adjustments on your next billing
statement."

Anyone know what 25000 is all about??

I got that message today too.
I think it means 25k more than the base 30k totalling 55k.
I wonder - that since I already was told they would add 20k, and now I'm told they are adding 25k, if I may end up with 30k+20k+25k=75k.

It may simply mean that since the 20k have not posted yet, and now I'm asking to match to 55k, they'll just add 25k, totaling 55k.

Got this reply:
Dear Tripper,

Thank you for contacting Chase about your United
MileagePlus account ending in xxxx.

Please be advised that the 55,000 enrollment miles offer
was not solicited on the MileagePlus Awards card you
opened.

Also, enrollment incentives offered to new United
cardmembers are always changing. Chase is aware that upon
opening a new United credit card account, you may be
re-solicited for an enrollment incentive that you find
more appealing.  For this reason, we regret to inform you that
we are unable to honor your request for the additional
enrollment bonus miles or the statement credit.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

I don't think there is a big risk of losing your miles but I doubt it looks good to have a credit card opened for so short. Do you have any other cards you can close? Or maybe they can just move some credit over without closing the United card?  The Freedom doesn't need a large credit line to be opened. I've opened one with a $500 limit.
