United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Any1 have a 50k link that works off the bat? I know that if there are some miles in an account the 60k (or 65) offer pops up, but I can't change the name on the application that way......  :-\

Open a new account and buy a few single miles.

Not my experience, but so say the pros. If it doesn't come up, there is a link you have to enter in your address bar while you are logged in into your united account and the 50k app will show up.

Got this reply:
Dear Tripper,

Thank you for contacting Chase about your United
MileagePlus account ending in xxxx.

Please be advised that the 55,000 enrollment miles offer
was not solicited on the MileagePlus Awards card you
opened.

Also, enrollment incentives offered to new United
cardmembers are always changing. Chase is aware that upon
opening a new United credit card account, you may be
re-solicited for an enrollment incentive that you find
more appealing.  For this reason, we regret to inform you that
we are unable to honor your request for the additional
enrollment bonus miles or the statement credit.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

Just a data point. Try calling again and again. It works. I got a positive response by both, SM and call. Now waiting to see if they'll double-match.... #WhoKnows

Who told you it would be a WMC?
And why does it matter? Even if it was it would not cover CDW in Israel.

I assumed so, since DW added an AU to her old CO OPP and it came in the mail as a UME WMC,
I know they don't cover Israel, but does visa signature have CDW in the US?
besides the point I'm all confused about CDW coverage in Israel. why would WMC cover only on the SPP [converted] and not on other cards ?
does it maybe have to do with insurance co. Chase is using, that will cover only on a WMC and not on a VS?

Did you miss this:
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/21130

The 65K includes 10k for spending $25,000, thus it's 55K.

Do you have an old Continental card? Or the old United card?
