United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

I got a match to the 55k + $50 credit via Chase SM.

First statement just closed and all it shows is 25,000 miles earned plus a few for the spending.

Made a purchase and got a few miles for that but what about the other 25k plus 5k for additional card?

Did this happen to anyone else too?

Do I need to send another SM? or should I call?

Did you get the $50 statement credit?

If yes then I had the same thing just happen to me. I sent a SM and they said it will take 6-8 weeks for the credit to post to my account. I'm assuming that the 25k that I did get was the match and the rest will come on the next statement.

Yes. Got the $50 credit.

6-8 weeks for the $50 credit or for the other 30k points?

I have a United Card -  I want to apply for a new one soon. Is it better to close it down now or better to apply for something else meanwhile which they will close down the United to approve and then WAIT and apply?

I RARELY use the card so saying I need a second one to separate expenses probably won't cut it in this case.

Just got this match today.

Dear JJ1000,

The newest offer includes 50,000 enrollment miles after
first use, 5,000 bonus miles for adding an authorized
user, a $50.00 statement credit and first year annual fee
waiver. In addition, you can earn 10,000 bonus miles if
you spend $25,000 in purchases in any calendar year
(January through December). When all of the above have
been met you will have received a total of 65,000 miles.

Once you have made your first purchase and the initial
enrollment bonus miles have posted to the account we can
then match the newest offer. Please contact us at that
time and we would be happy to assist you with making the
necessary adjustments.

I have applied a $50.00 statement credit to your account.
You will see this adjustment on your next billing
statement.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,
