United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

But anyways you probably lose the chance of 2BM/3BM if you wanted to...or am I wrong?

IIRC a DDF member wanted to know if he applies for a cc at bank can someone at home with computer apply for another card right away...did  that work?
Just did it today, I applied at the bank for 1 card and did another 2 later= 1 PULL

This may be a stupid question but...if you apply for 2 CC's in bank(at once)...that automatically 2 pulls?

Regardless if online or in bank they both need to be either bus or personal

Any experience with applying for 2 at bank?

I'm not following ya.
lemme write it out clearer
IF YOU APPLY FOR 2 BUSINESS CARDS AT THE BANK OR IF YOU APPLY FOR 2 PERSONAL CARDS in other words AS LONG AS YOU DONT COMBINE 1 BUS AND 1 PERSONAL. THEN IT WOULD 'MOST PROBABLY' BE ONLY 1 PULL

when you say YMMV, you refer to mmermss's situation [applying @ bank] or to 2/bm in general ?
IMHO doing at bank, online, onphone. no difference

I originally asked if 2 applications at a bank result in one or 2 pulls...I know the fact that 2 applications online result in one pull IF they are both either bus or personal...I did not think that applying at bank would be any different.

A "most probably" would mean try it and hope for the best...not the best answer you want if deciding whether or not to actually do it...that is why I asked if you personally had any experience with that...

all the stuff here are YMMV.
Why dont you comment on all the 200,000 posts on DDF "Sounds right. But is officially YMMV".
Well, if this is almost always the case, no need to say YMMV.
Just my straight opinion.

The key point here is that pulls that are coded the same are typically consolidated, so YMMV on the typically (you ostensibly can't do much if they don't consolidate), and YMMV on the coding.

But I agree with you, usually shouldn't make a difference.

Just my straight opinion.

Because I've gotten multiple pulls in 2/3BM situations, so it's YMMV IME. Happy now?

if experience is what you're after. then you're right I have no experience on that was just trying to help ya out by saying that there's no obvious difference.

p.s. I believe, meshug, wasn't reporting experience, either. he was basically sayin what I was saying

Are there any advantages of applying at a bank over phone or online?

but did you hear of anyone being denied a match since Oct 9?
No but I heard of people not getting the full 55k until the first 25k posts which could mean even till the second billing cycle you won't get it. So no I rather go to the bank and get all my miles faster so I could book my flight earlier. How does that sound?
@Dan I figured your link for UA MPE doesn't work anyway but I did use your links of Freedom and SP ;D
