United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

IIRC $1000
Funny thing is I applied for this card and went through this process myself, but I was in such a rush when doing the 3bm that I didn't even look to see what the spend is...

Anyone know the required spend on this?
Dear a european

Thank you for contacting Chase about your United
MileagePlus® credit card account.

We reviewed the application you submitted in November,
2012 and have confirmed that the up to 65,000 bonus miles
promotion was offered along with the first year annual fee
waiver. Each year thereafter, your card annual fee will be
$95.00.

Here?s how you earn up to 65,000 bonus miles:

You will receive 50,000 bonus miles after you have met
$1000.00 in new purchases within the first three months of
the opening of your account. You will see these bonus
miles post to your account six to eight weeks from the
date the minimum spend was met.

You will earn 5,000 bonus miles by adding an authorized
user and making your first purchase in the first three
months of opening of your account.

You also can earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend
$25,000 or more on your card each calendar year.

If you are unable to exceed the $1000.00 threshold by
02/23/13 please contact us at that time and we would be
happy to add the 50,000 miles.

We will be more than happy to apply the $50.00 statement
to your account after you have made your first purchase.
Please contact us at that time and either my colleagues or
myself will make the necessary adjustments.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

I had a UMPE MC for 1 year so when the annual fee came up I asked to downgrade it to a CC with no annual fee so they have me a UMP CC.

After I asked to be matched from $2,000 to $1,000 I got the following:

Dear JEWDA,

We?re writing in response to your recent question about
your United MileagePlus® credit card account.

We reviewed your account and see you recently opened a new
United MileagePlus credit card account, which offers bonus
miles after your first purchase using the new card.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive the bonus
miles since you received a similar offer in the past. Here
is additional information to help explain the enrollment
bonus:

?The terms and conditions associated with the credit card
indicate that the one-time offer is only for first-time
United MileagePlus cardmembers with a new account.
?Since you received 25,000 enrollment miles on March 01,
2012 on your previous account ending in XXXX, you are not
considered a first time cardmember.
?Based on this information, this new account is not able
to receive the enrollment bonus miles.

Thank you for being our customer. We appreciate your
business.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

Brittany Navarro

Should I just send another SM?
You used a different ffn?
ding ding ding ding.  Is there anything I can do now?
I thought everyone knew it was a big no-no to SM about the UA card if you've had one in the past. This always happens when you do.

Update: I spent the $2,000, Statement closed yesterday, I looked on the online statement and sure enough it says Welcome Bonus 55,00 miles!! The points are not in my account yet but I'm hoping...

Similar to my case even though mine was a first timer.
They said they can't approve and I said I don't need a signature card so they gave me 2k limit and said I won't get the bonus. And I spent the 1k and got it
