United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Yup, thanks, I SM'd and was positively matched to the 50k offer :)

Congrats!
They wouldn't do 55k?

nice, for $1 or $1k spend?
This was for my new ua business card. I didn't ask to lower the spending threshold as I will definitely hit 5k within the first month.

I posted a couple of days ago here http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=23709.0 and didn't get a reply, probably because it was the wrong place. I don't know hwy I couldn't find this thread then, but I did now, so please indulge me in my repost, and if anyone knows the answer I'd much appreciate it.

United just sent me new cards, to replace the old cards which replaced the continental cards. The only discernible difference that I see is that they are 'World Elite', instead of World.
Does anyone know what that does for me? I apologize if this was covered already, I looked and searched and didn't find it.
Thanks!

Need advice..Did a 3bm for hyatt, SP, and United MP explorer...Got approved for 1st 2 and chase says they declined the MP card because its my first credit card apps with chase(although i have a bank account, and good credit) and they cant approve more credit. I asked about shift but was denied. Other than HUCA, are there any other things I can say to convince them?

Tell them all the bennies that come along with it...you fly UA a lot...free bag etc...

I applied for this card on the 30th and added my wife as an additional on the signup form (stupid?) and was approved on the spot. I then applied for my wife on the same day and got the standard "wait a few weeks" message. I checked her credit report and it shows 1 hard pull and one soft pull on the same day.
Does Chase make a soft pull when they issue additionals?
If not, why were there 2 different pulls?
Was it denied because I had just applied for her to be an additional on my card?
Could the 2 pulls mean that they pulled again and they approved her?
n00b questions alert.

I just applied for and received a MP card, and have used a brand new FF# in the application.

I was turned down via SM for the same reason as MOTO mentioned above, that "You already had this card in Feb 2012..."

I think it's safe to say that Chase is closing in on this.

So don't send an SM until you get the signup points folks  ::) ::) ::)

I still have open my Untied exp card , want to apply for new card , will do with new f.f. --  Question is--- first transfer credit line and cncl card? --any reason not to cncl before applying for new c.c ? --what works best?
tks
