United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Let it be remembered for all eternity on DDF that MEIR613 did not want this great deal to be shared with the hundreds of DDFers. I for one intend to never help him out on these forums. And I believe neither should anyone else!
BOYCOTT MEIR613!!
yes. don't listen to paranoid people, I have much more experience than him. He thinks like a noob.

Does travel have to be booked on the card for free luggage or just show the card at check in?

Dan and others said you can just show.

-1, YMMV.

Primary account holder doesn't need to show or book with it.
Secondary needs to show but even then may have to have booked with it as well, YMMV based on the supervisor on duty.

Dan, I too couldn't find a clear answer or a specific thread.
Perhaps there should be a thread in the START HERE designated for this question.
Anyway, what is the answer?
Also, after doing a 3bm with Chase, how long should one wait before doing another 3bm for different cards (not churning)?
Thanks!

I successfully got matched to the 55K pretty easily, but the statement credit keeps getting shot down. Has anyone gotten that aspect matched recently?

Dear Red,

We?re writing in response to your recent question about
your United MileagePlus® credit card account.

We reviewed your account and see you recently opened a new
United MileagePlus credit card account, which offers bonus
miles after your first purchase using the new card.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive the bonus
miles since you received a similar offer in the past. Here
is additional information to help explain the enrollment
bonus:
I'd write a new SM after getting the signup points.
Oh I definitely will, but I'm not that optimistic about getting it. Nu nu, you win some you lose some (there's always next time).

Quote
Dear Red,

Thank you for contacting Chase about your United
MileagePlus® credit card account.

We understand you applied for an offer that provided
30,000 bonus miles when you submitted your application in
December, 2012.

You let us know that you are interested in an offer that
provides 50,000 bonus miles. That offer awards 20,000
additional miles and a $50.00 statement credit after you
spend $1,000.00 in the first three months your account is
open.

As a reminder, here?s how you can earn 30,000 bonus miles:

You will receive 30,000 bonus miles after you spend $1000
in the first 3 months your account is open. You will see
these bonus miles post to your account six-to-eight weeks
from the date the spending requirement is met.

You can also earn 5,000 bonus miles after you add an
authorized user to your account and make a purchase with
your card during the first three months as a Cardmember.

You can also earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend
$25,000 or more on your card each calendar year.

We are pleased to inform you that we have honored your
request and issued an additional 20,000 miles and a $50.00
statement credit. These adjustments will be reflected on
your next billing statement.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,
Cha-ching!!
