United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Correct and YMMV but he may also need to book with it. The super can look it up.
If the flight is booked with United gift registry credit is that considered purchasing with the cc and the secondary cardholder on the reservation should get a free piece as well?

No, but if you charge $1 to the cc it will.

My sister SM'ed for a match from 30K to 55K on her UMPE and got the following response:

Quote
We reviewed your account and see you recently opened a new United MileagePlus credit card account, which offers bonus miles 30,000 after you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months your account is open. Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive the bonus miles since you received a similar offer in the past.

Here is additional information to help explain the enrollment bonus:

The terms and conditions associated with the credit card indicate that the one-time offer is only for first-time United MileagePlus cardmembers with a new account. Since you received 55,000 bonus miles in 2012 on your previous MileagePlus Explorer account ending in xxxx, you are not considered a first time cardmember. Based on this information, this new account is not able to receive any enrollment bonus miles at all.

Ouch. She did use a new FFN# on the app. I've personally never gotten a response like this. What can she do now?

ETA: I see that Red received the same response and still managed to get the 55K. So it seems like they don't actually notate the account to stop you from getting the 30K. I guess I'll tell her to spend the $1K and take it from there, unless anyone has a better idea.

It's been discussed that you have to wait to get the 30K before SMing if you're doing a churn.

Just applied to the United MileagePlus Explorer for 30K pts for $1K in 3mo.  Pending approval, are there any better deals recently expired on the business side that I can call and ask for a match on?
