United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

ha gufa!

i downgraded bec i was hit with the AF 3 days ago, as mier613 pointed put i have 30 days. so i just downgraded to use it as leverage bec i have a great reason why i want SP - no forex fees. i also downgraded bec i am able to keep my UR points in that card as well

But don't you want to close it? When you close it and get a new SP opened you'll lose the points, no?

why should i want it closed? meaning i might just keep it open (unless i do need it for leverage, then i will transfer the points) but i might not even sign up for a new one if i get the IB, IP, and UA...esp if my sapphire is still a WMC
If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.

Do you know if they will approve a SP if you have a regular Sapphire?

So I wanted to merge my CL from my Explorer card to my SP but they wont let me do the full amount, and they say if they cancel the card then I might lose the UA miles earned through the card. Will this actually happen or how can I go about transferring all the credit to my SP and how should I close the card. Thanks

regarding downgrading from UMPE to mileageplus regular, when I called they told me I wasn't elligible to do that b/c I didn't have the card for a year, and they can't change the terms w/in the first yr of the card.

should I just HUCA or is that rly the policy? What have been your experiences

anyone have an answer for this?
and if they don't let me downgrade, is there an option of converting it to a different card?

 Two options

1. read the thread -- it clearly states it

2. do it easy way - hope that someone will explain to you again.

Sigh.. Here it goes -- you login into chase-- there is secure message. You type them that your colleague, grandma, dog etc received the same card but with 55 miles and 50statement - can you please match.

They reply same or next day saying-- yes

A wiki should be added. I hate the format, so I can't do it.

should we wait for 30K to post and then write the SM or write it as soon as card is approved?
