United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Make a new united acct add an initial to ur name so u can later merge the accts and then apply for cc using new num.

I did it without a new united account; I got my second card within about 6 months of first, using blank ffn. Got 30k after spending $1k, then SM-ed for additional 20k + $50.

You will need to call up Chase and ask them what the mileage plus number is that is attache to the card. Sometimes they can help you other times they will transfer you to MP which then they will be able to help you.
If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.

And if they don't immediately accept the application and I need to justify having 2x same card within 6 months... What's that argument??

I recently applied for the United MileagePlus Explorer card
and SM to be matched to the 50k plus $50 statement
here is the response I got

Dear

Thank you for contacting Chase regarding your United
MileagePlus® credit card account.

Here?s a summary of your request:
? We understand you applied for an offer that provided
30,000 bonus miles when you submitted your application in
February 2014.
? You let us know that you are interested in an offer that
provides 50,000 bonus miles and a $50 statement credit.
That offer awards 20,000 additional miles after you spend
$1,000 in the first three months your account is open.
? Please call us at the number on the back of your card
when you have spent $1,000 in the first three months your
account is open so we can add the additional 20,000 bonus
miles to your account.

As a reminder, here?s how you can earn 30,000 bonus miles:
? You will receive 30,000 bonus miles after you spend
$1,000 in the first 3 months your account is open. You
will see these bonus miles post to your account
six-to-eight weeks from the date the spending requirement
is met.
? You can also earn 5,000 bonus miles after you add an
authorized user to your account and make a purchase with
your card during the first three months as a Cardmember.

? You can also earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend
$25,000 or more on your card each calendar year.

We are pleased to inform you that we have honored your
request and issued a $50.00 statement credit. The credit
will be reflected on your next billing statement.

Please keep in mind that all enrollment offers are for
new, first-time United MileagePlus Explorer credit card
members only. This means we reserve the right to withhold
adding any enrollment miles if you have previously
received them on the same product on a previous date.

Thank you for being our customer. We appreciate your
business.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

so they said after $1000 spend didn't say after $2000 spend

I have got exact same e-mail word by word. I had sent SM to them after I finished my $1000 spend and after 30000 + 5000 (AU) was credited after 1 statement had closed. I have already received $50 statement credit next day after receiving this e-mail. when can I expect additional 20000 miles?

Yes with a different FF# give a look at the wiki.

I think 3-4 month would be safe but theoretically you could every month........

Thanks my main question was how often which doesn't say in wiki. Also would leaving ff# blank constitute of different ff #?

In the chase reconsideration thread, people claim you can get the bonus again without even closing the first card.

You can, but the question boils down to, how many HUCA's will it take to get him approved.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

You have to create a new FF#. (Don't leave it blank they will merge it with your existing FF#)

First time United Explorer Chase Card 50k points
« Reply #2776 on: March 17, 2014, 02:14:25 PM »
I started off with the Freedom card, then Sapphire Preferred card and have accumulated over 100k points.  I then enrolled in a United Mileageplus account and moved 100k points into the United program.  Soon after I received an offer for 50,000 points to open a United MileagePlus Explorer Card when I spend $2,000.  Extra 20,000 points on top of their standard 30,000 point signup bonus.
I live to be on Dan's Deals Main Site!!

Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.
