United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

where did you say you saw the offer?
Most of my correspondence has been posted here. Last message to them was that I "saw" the premium offer in a chase branch.

Can you pm or post the picture of the offer?

There was no picture in the final reply.

Success! Emailed them twice, mentioning in bank promotion both times.

Already got a PM about this, so I am including the whole convo with CS:

Email #1:
I recently signed up for the United credit card with a 30K miles bonus. I was in the bank this morning and noticed that they are running a promotion where you could sign up for the credit card and get a 50K miles bonus. Is there any way that I can get the 50K bonus mile offer, considering that I JUST signed up for the credit card?

Reply #1:
Thank you for contacting us about the enrollment bonus on
your United MileagePlus® Explorer credit card account.

We are unable to confirm a current offer entitling you to
receive 50,000 bonus miles after $2,000 in purchases in
the first three months the account is open. Please provide
us with a copy of the offer addressed to you or the unique
invitation number included on the direct mail offer. We
will be happy to review the offer extended and take any
appropriate action on your account. Please send the offer
you received as an attachment, or fax the information to
us at 1-888-643-9628.

We hope to resolve this to your satisfaction, and we
apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have
caused you.

Email #2:

Like I said in my original email, I did not receive an offer in the mail. I saw the 50,000 bonus at the bank a few days after I signed up online. I don't think it's fair that you offer different bonuses in different places. If I would have seen the bonus amount just a few days earlier at the bank I would have received 20,000 more miles. Does that make any sense?

Reply #2:

Thank you for re-contacting Chase regarding your Chase
MileagePlus® Explorer credit card account and the
qualifying enrollment incentive.

The enrollment incentive associated with the new
application you completed is for a total of 35,000 bonus
miles. If you meet the qualifiers listed below I will
issue the additional 20,000 miles you have requested:

* 50,000 bonus miles after you meet the $2000.00 spend
qualifier.
* 5,000 bonus miles for adding an Authorized User to the
account
* 10,000 bonus miles after $25,000 spend has been met
within the calendar year.

Once you have met the spend you will need to contact me
directly at the number I have provided below or by secure
e-mail so I may add the additional miles.

Thanks for posting the transcript.

Didn't want to post what I wrote exactly. Hope people will use their brains and not copy paste it. As we see clearly here it is the same rep who is taking care of the adding miles to the account, so try to make it a little different wording.

Another way to get same result.... If you are premier member and you want to use different FFN number for churning and if your premier account is showing 50k offer, then use this method, it also works.

I'm just starting to get into this credit card game and had a question regarding this card.  I've actually had this card for over 10 years and its been my main card ever since.  I never received any sign on bonus when I first got it or anything in between.
What is the best way to try and get this 50k bonus? Trying to accumulate more miles faster for a trip to Israel for the family in around 3 years.  Would love to not pay for tickets.
Last month I signed up for the ink 70k and got it and this week signed up for freedom 20k and got it.
Credit score is 841.
Do I cancel my current United card that I've had for so long and reapply right for this card? Should I make a FFN under my wife's name or something and then eventually merge accounts when the time comes to buy tickets?
Too many pulls in a short time frame?  Should I care? Was planning on signing up for 2nd freedom card under my wife's name and social using referral after I get mine.  Should I sign up at same time for this United card under her social so it shows as one pull?
Should I keep my card which is under my social with her as an authorized user and still get another under her social? Is that possible?
Sorry for so many questions :) thanks

Applying every month is will hurt you going forward. Too many pulls. So bunch the apps into 2/3BMs.
Your wife's United points can't easily be combined with yours, but you can buy some of the family tickets from her account.  So signing her up for the freedom and the united card together is a good idea.  In a separate pull on the same day she may need the Ink Plus, too.
Your united card may help your credit score because it gives you a long credit history.  If you have no other card that's near that old, you may want to keep it and not cancel and reaply to get the 50K.  And she can each be AU on your card without a problem getting hers.

i made her an employee/au under the ink i just got and they have her social.  wouldn't that prevent me from signing her up for the ink again?
you think i should reapply for a united on my social even though i already have one, to be able to get current bonus?  can you have 2 of the same card under your social?  should i make a new FFN for that 2nd united card i would sign up for?  or should i leave my card alone and just do the signups under her social?

If she can come up with a business of her own, or even using yours, I think, she can open her own Ink Plus, too.
I don't think you can get a 2nd united, even w a new FFN.  that's to get the bonus on a new card when you haven't got one currently.  If it's by far your oldest card, I wouldn't cancel it.  Call in for a retention bonus?
Sign her up for a united and a freedom.  If your're adventuresome, especially if the other 2 are approved on the spot, go for a BA card, too.  BA pts can also go to Israel, although UR points are my favorite points overall.

If ur united card is that old & it's ur oldest card I wouldn't cancel it- it shows ur a long time credit holder & especially so with chase. But you do want to get more points thru new signup bonuses. So I have a very simple idea downgrade ur (current) united card to a no annual fee card I think it's called the "united rewards card" (it only gives u 1 mile per every $2 spent and loose some other benifits) which will unlock ur name for further churning with the united card. though to play it safe I would wait at least 30 days after activating ur new downgraded card till u reapply for the regular card and u can use ur old ffn.
