just got an email today from Citi AAdvantage Card that "We’ve removed your mileage cap"
although i never had the problem with the 100,000 mile limit
is this for all AA cards, or just the visa?

I got this in the mail, and in my email. They're going to have to step up their game if they want me to even consider using that card. Not even the 750-point-monthly-bonus-for-$750-spend would get me to use that card.

  Got that bonus with $85 retention credit for annual fee. Gave them one $750 month. They not going to get A second one

same here on visa which is funny bec all I ever put on card in 11 months is the min spend requirement.

I got it on my citi amex which i haven't spent a dime on since i met the spending threshold (aside from small biz Saturday of course )

Thought it was strange as i have status and wouldnt have a mileage cap anyways. I did not get it on my Citi Executive card which ive spent over 200K in the last 4 months.

The card is a joke regardless. Only worth the signup bonuses IMHO.

What about with certain retention bonuses? I was offered $85 + 500 extra points when spending $500, so basically 2 points/$ for every dollar up $500 (as long as you spend $500).

I've got that offer too. 2 points per dollar would rock, but the 500 (or even 750/1000 as others have been offered) limit kills it for me.

You just have to combine it with other offers

On my dads card he had 50% bonus for 6 months, so he was at 1.5 points per dollar. Then called to get the annual fee refunded and was given a $100 refund and a 100% bonus for 6 months, ends up being 2.5 points per dollar for 6 months with no limit.

Mind you he does use it as his primary card, has had it since 1990, and puts a decent amount on it so they were inclined to give him a good offer...

1. If it wasn't a limited offer, I'd seriously consider 1.5 or 2 miles per $1 spent.
2. I wouldn't use the card with all it's shortcomings for 20 years hoping to get a decent retention bonus down the line.

Too much of  hassle for me, and only 12k miles a year assuming you get a full 12-month retention offer (some only get 6-months), but whatever works for you.
