There is a limit of 4 boxes per 'household'. The order went through but will probably be cancelled in a day or two.

The point of the US Mint program is to get the coins into circulation. I know that Walmart does money orders for 60 cents. I wanted to take $1,000 of coins to Walmart and get a money order. Then I can deposit the money order in my bank and pay my cc. That way I am complying with the program and not direct depostiting the coins. Besides, if I went to several stores to get m.o. then maybe I wouldn't get the hassle with the bank or strange looks.

I have never bought coins before and am just afraid of the strange responses I will get, whether it is from Walmart or bank tellers.

Did you try taking it to Walmart?? If yes, were you successful?

Yes, I have been to 4 Walmarts.
The first one was good.

The second one told me they couldn't do it because they didn't have a person to put it in the safe or something. They were just being difficult. Then I found a mgr and he took them. It was only like 3 boxes ($750).

The third one had a money center that did m.o. instead of customer service. The young girl unwrapped every roll and counted them one by one by hand and it took forever. Then she forgot where she was at and had to recount all the coins. Somewhere around $750.

The fourth one wasn't sure about the coins as they never saw them before. They looked confused but didn't give me a problem. They took them no problem.

I have only gone to the post office once for a m.o. cause they cost more there. I am cheap. They didn't give me a problem.

dan posted way back that chase had no issue whatsoever.

there's also TD bank which has a coin machine. u just put all the coims thru, go to the teller and they give u cash or u can deposit it. they don't take any percentage and its free even if u don't have an account with them (although they'll try to convince u to get one).
they have great hours, they r open very late, and they r open on sundays.

I think s/o posted the following somewhere on the forum. If not, it still makes sense:
If you're going to come to TD w/ $10,000 and try to put it in a change machine, it's going to keep filling up after every X amount of coins. Then the guy's going to have to change the bag, ect. He'll prob give you a hard time when he sees you still have 9,000 coins (or wtvr the number is) left. But on the bright side, if you guess how much you deposited, u'll get a free sticker!

I've gone to TD with coins. Some of them just take them at the teller, others insist on using the machine. The default bag limit for dollar coins is lik $300 so the rep changed it to me to the max ($1000) and then helped me open the rolls into the machine and emptied the bags as they reached $1000. A bit of a pain!

walmart does money orders? from coins?
why only $750?

& i've never had a problem taking coins to a bank outside of nyc. they take them with a smile
one time i even had a whole nice chat about cc points with the teller

& boa @ kingston told me last time that they're gonna charge me $50 each time. i realized it was just the teller in a bad mood, always the same people. she was nice and "waived" the fee.

sorry about the bump havent been following

is it a cash advance ?
will you get points or mileage ?

A fascinating idea for a company. I've never head of them. I recently invested most of my wedding money in a 10% heter iska loan. The money is backed and I know I wont lose it, but this is such a good idea. The questions would be how reliable are they and can we have a LOR look into the halachic ramifications.

Has anyone done this? It seems worthwhile to try out.

It seems you can use Paypal to fund. I don't see CC. I would think all PP payments aren't CA. But that's a guess. Question is do they charge you the fee. I would guess yes.
