Just curious if you have any basis for this "feeling"

Based on this. Obv could be wrong as well. But thats what my feeling came from.

Why doesn't someone call it in and find out?

+1 When I was trying to book NYC-ICN-TLV, all the agents were processing it as two separate awards. I would assume HNL would be the same.

I'm assuming you know what they say when you assume, right?

PUTPAC if you're that desperate, but I'd be very surprised if it's only one award.

Trying to use Korean Air to fly Alaska or Delta from NYC to ANC in August 2016 (dates somewhat flexible).  See lots of SAAVER fares on Alaska's website but when I spoke to Korean they said no availability.  Delta.com shows less availability but still some.  Korea says nothing.  Any way for me to see what is actually available to Korea?  They recommended I call back every so often to see if anything opens up.  How likely is that to happen?

In order to book an award ticket for wife, kid and myself, I need to add them to the family plan first, right?

yes, you will have to send in proof that you are all related, once you are all on the family plan you can book for all of you, you can even take specific amounts of points from each persons mileage account to make up the tickets.
