I erased my post by mistake. You mean call them to put it on hold, or call to transfer, and book at the same time ?

How long is the hold for ?
Depends, but it can be until two days before the flight. They are very very generous.

Ok, do I have to have sufficient miles in my account to put the award on hold ?
ETA: I found the answer. You don't have to have sufficient miles in the account.

Read up a bit.

Lucky talks about for example:

"None of the above programs even come close to holding a candle to Korean Air Skypass’ award hold policy. In most cases Korean Air SkyPass will hold an award ticket for travel on Korean Air metal until two days before departure. And that’s even if you don’t have any miles in your account!"

Any sweet spots using KE miles on EK? Do they see Z class availability or is it the same problem like AS?

I called ke to book JFK-ICN-TLV. The agent priced the award at 160k one way. She claimed that the flight distance is too long, for it to be booked as one ticket etc.  Does that make sense ? HUCA ?!
