Oh please!

Of course it was in a warmer/oven. Where do you think they keep it until they serve?

How does your wife serve hot food friday night?

Soup is usually heated in a pot. In order not to be machalel Shabbos, you need to remove the pot from the oven/hot plate before you take out the soup. It is then forbidden to put the pot back on the hot plate.
Unless your story is that when you walked in there was a bowl of soup on your table that had been placed there an hour ago, how do you explain that they gave you cold soup (that was ladled out of the big pot) and then they suddenly came up with hot soup?

Unfortunately, there are many problems with Shabbos in Israeli hotels, even the "mehadrin"  ones. I have seen such things with my own eyes.

Wow, I have to say I'm stunned and if I was that person, I would totally fight that.  If you're the primary person on the reservation that HHonors issued to you, I would think that contractually the hotel has to let you stay there (but maybe you guys are right and the reps are being nice and doing stuff not expressly allowed in the T&Cs).  I also have to say that I don't sell points and I guess the whole "system" is being so abused at this hotel, to the detriment of the business, that maybe HHonors is letting them do what they want to fight it.  I'm probably going to take heat for saying this but I'm personally happy that there aren't going to be tons of Citi certs anymore so that the WAJ may have a small chance now of staying part of the Hilton family.

I'm not sure how the hotel can see whose original account the booking come from though.  I had a reservation in my name from my husband's certificate that I accidentally deleted the confirmation for and needed to change the date and it wasn't showing as a reservation under either of our accounts, when I called the Diamond Desk and the hotel (after the Diamond Desk asked me to call them directly) they couldn't see it under his account any more because the reservation had been fully transferred to me.  Maybe one of the TA's on here can explain what the hotel sees on their end.

BTW, I can't believe you would book someone at the WAJ, aren't there halachas against feeding other Jews non-kosher food?  Ok seriously I'll stop, I'm TOTALLY just joking and seriously not trying to start ANOTHER kashrut argument in this thread although I was surprised to see your post because of your past kashrut posts.  :P
AH called the Diamond desk and they promised to call the GM but he wouldnt listen.

The guy didnt eat there, no worries. ;)

It was buffet.

When I complained they replaced the toureen with a fresh one from the warmer.

Maybe they would have done the same with the meat but I didn't ask.

Has nothing to do with being cynical. There is a very real issue with Shabbos in Israeli hotels. You should always have in mind not to ask for something that can't be delivered (such as hot food if there is none) since it will probably cause a Jew to be mechlal Shabbos.

For some reason certificate can be transferred to other names but points are booked directly out of the ah account .

HH allows free points transfers now so this is easy to get around

I was there a few weeks  (came late and it was a packed Shabbos) didn't wait anything. but service was 6.5/10

I emailed them for a price. 530NIS for Friday night.  Kinda steep in my opinion.

Seems more expensive than usual. Is that for hotel guests or visitors?

Yea that's what they said. It's not a buffet. Looks like you get to choose something from each of the courses. I attached a copy of the menu.
Don't think it's worth 530. I'm gunna look into other options.

Cheaper for foreign hotel guests as there's no VAT.

Trying to decide if it's worth it to put $40k on my Hilton Surpass to get diamond status.
What would diamond members enjoy at WA J'lem over gold members?
